So it was brought to my attention about a week ago, that I never take pictures of people. So it's been on my mind, and I've been looking for something inspirational with people to take a picture of. Today while walking back from lunch, I saw two guys with gas-powered leaf blowers walking and another man about 50 feet away running towards them yelling and waving his arms. Even after taking this picture and observing, I'm not sure what he was trying to signal. I think he was just not wanting to be left alone.
After taking a closer look at this picture, I noticed that there are some rather large posters of Victoria's Secret models and they are smiling and looking in that direction. Candid and probably not why they are smiling, but ironic and funny.
So, here's a picture of People:

Mario Kart!
Super Nintendo is really cool, and here is a classic that I recently purchased on E-Bay after pulling the Nintendo out of the garage.

Happy Birthday Abbey!
So I'm refraining from posting ANOTHER picture of a flower, especially since the flower picture I wanted to post is a Passion Flower. Abbey turned 25 today, Happy Birthday Ab. For the first time in my life, I got to witness a flower bloom. It lasted about 10 minutes, and in those minutes I watched each intricate part of the flower open up right before my eyes. It was beautiful and I enjoyed taking about 30 pictures of this process. Instead of those, I chose a couple from our adventures today. We took a hike near Helen Hunt Falls, above it to the 'Silver Falls' where I found this little pool of water that was above the falls. The other picture is of a tree root that was growing out of the ground and had incredible detail and markings.

hair
This is what my hair looks like after playing with kids all day. That includes bouncing balls on my head, bonking myself with bunnies and ducks, and being tickled by grown adults with fake flowers. Oh the things we do to get a smile...
I know this picture is random, but then again so am I. I guess this is more of a personal reflection of my day.

CumuloHappy
Here are some pretty clouds that graced the sky this afternoon. I was happy to get a nice shot of these, believe it or not they aren't always the easiest thing to take a picture of (from an exposure standpoint).

Large Format
Today what started out as a simple task, a short trip to the recycling bin, turned into a fun and rather large abstract work of art. At work a roll of our paper accidentally became exposed. I headed out to the paper recycling bin (which does fortunately recycle photo paper!) and realized I needed to get the cardboard tube in the center out because that needed to be in the cardboard recycling. Anyway, instead of just unrolling the 600 feet into the dumpster, I decided to make 'art' out of it. So here's a few from that project. And I know there's a lot of pictures from today, but there's also a picture of a lonely goose that was wandering around the parking lot this morning all by himself. Maybe he just needed some quiet time.

Bees
Bees are some of the most fascinating creatures in the world. The way they hover and go flower to flower, never ceasing to do their intended work in the world. They pollinate and pollinate and pollinate, they are loyal, hardworking, intelligent, and extremely athletic (they do their combination of wing chopping and full rotation an average of 230 times per second).
If you haven't seen 'The Secret Life of Bees' you should definitely see it.

Nostalgic
Sharpen your pencil. I saw this and it took me back to the days where people used things called pencils and pens to write letters instead of computers, they used film to take pictures...

something small, something big
Drive slow in the snow and appreciate the small amazing things in life. And no, I wasn't the driver, but that is my finger. (Save the picture of the ant and zoom way in to see his cute little eyes.)

Hail
So we're apparently supposed to get another 'Blizzard' in the next 36 hours. I'm not totally convinced because they said that last time and we only got a few inches. I hope they're right because I love snow and think it would be wonderful to have a foot of it, but I'm not holding my breath. Today I watched an interesting hail storm and took a few pictures. One is an empty parking lot with hail scattered on the ground, the other is a picture attempting to 'catch' the action of the snow. I hope to tell you tomorrow we have a foot of snow!

Recycle, PLEASE!
I spent my lunch inside of a dumpster. Not looking for lunch, but salvaging cardboard from the trash to take it to the recycling. The picture here is of the cardboard boxes I pulled out of the trash and took to the recycling bin. What you're looking at is boxes inside of boxes, some of which are inside even more boxes!!!! That's a ton of cardboard that will now easily be recycled into more cardboard, further helping our environment not just from filling up landfills, but from reducing the energy needed to create virgin-cardboard. What makes this picture sad, is that the trash dumpster is only about 40 feet away from the recycling, so it wasn't even that inconvenient to do the Green thing. Do your part & Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Mountains, Mannequin, & Man
This is the only picture I took today but I think it has enough merit and global appeal to do just. This was taken from outside of Talbots, at the Shops at Briargate. I was walking to my car when I saw this husband sleeping in a chair inside Talbots, I then saw the mannequin in front of him, and the mountains reflected off of the glass. I felt this captured a feeling and a common experience for some men. Something about the beauty of the mountains, and the boredom of the guy gave a nice contrast and I had a nice chuckle while secretly taking this.

Spring Snow
Today I awoke to nearly 4 inches of extremely fluffy snow! I had never seen snow on Easter before so that was pretty cool. The snowflakes were giant clusters of snow gently falling to the ground.

Parsley, Sage, ________ & Thyme
This is my dear friend, Rosemary. We became friends one week ago and are getting along quite nicely. And a big Thank You to Annie and Kevin for the flash diffuser(I'm still working on the different flash settings, but I think this thing is going to be awesome!)!

Post 100!
Below is my little 'greenhouse' that has been growing for the last month or so. I spent about an hour tonight transplanting, thinning, and feeding our little babies. I'm so excited about the abundance of plants we have this year and look forward to sharing!

Sand!
Abbey and I climbed the Sand Dunes at the Great Sand Dunes National Park. We had a blast(sand that is) and had an amazing time. If you haven't been here, you should! It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Colorado Springs.

Denver Day
Abbey planned a day for us in Denver today. We went to the Science Museum to check out this awesome exhibit called 'Expedition Health'. It was completely interactive and had some pretty cool workstations such as: an ultraviolet light that let you see the veins in your hands and arms, an age progression station, and a station that you compete with other people by using brain waves. We then watched an IMAX movie, 'Grand Canyon Adventure, River at Risk' http://www.grandcanyonadventurefilm.com/.
This shot was taken shortly before we left Denver, it's an old Boiler Building near Union Station.

Young Love
Tonight, Abbey and I went to a musical at Audrey's High School. The show was Upon A Mattress, it was a lot of fun. Anyway, during the intermission we noticed this carved on the seat in front of us. Apparently Noel and Bob were in love in 1987. So here's to you Noel and Bob.

Motion
Today is my Birthday. I was walking our neighbor's dog, Dewey, early this morning around 6:45 and I could see from the window before we even started, the gorgeous purple sunrise. I was excited because I had my camera with me. Not even two minutes later I arrived at where this picture was taken. And in that two minutes the brilliant purples and blues that most people in Colorado are familiar with early in the morning were completely gone. I loved this simple metaphor for life that nothing is still. Everything is in motion, everything is moving, everything is changing. I looked up and saw the stop sign and knew this picture was even better than the fiery sunrise I had seen moments earlier, this was real and true and perfect. This symbolism rang even more true as I reflected through the day about Birthdays and how we too are constantly changing, and growing. There's no stopping a sunrise or a sunset, or even any moment in our lives. Everything is fluid and constantly in motion.

Mobile Power?
Not sure what the story is behind this. I'm thinking they wanted to avoid getting permits to put it in their yard, so they put it on a truck instead. I would love to see this thing driving down the road...
